Back Office projects

SysRailData participates in three Back Office projects :

Improvement of Back Office processes : provision of activity and quality indicators.

	SysRailData participation :
SysRailData runs technical tests on tools required for indicators provision. SysRailData has provided activities indicators since February 2008. The project started in 2008 and SysRailData teams will keep working on the project until 2009.

"Paris marketing delegation launched a tool for busy period expectations for SNCF ticket offices as well as SNCF ticket shops.

	SysRailData participation :
SysRailData provided a chronological account of sales done since 2006. Once the tool will be used in the course of 2009, SysRailData will provide a chronological account of sales each week.

New chart of accounts' modelling adopted since 7th January 2009

	SysRailData participation :
SysRailData participated in the testing and setting up of this new modelling.

Distribution applications

User support team level 2 has the following missions :

Follow-up in the setting up of marketing offers of our customers : Eurostar, Thalys, Artesia, Alleo, Elipsos...

We check for example new fares and sales to ensure that the tariffs can be visualized and saleable.

Intervention and supervision of the booking operational system for international traffic.

Example : Passengers are seated in relief trains in case of train shortage and the team also creates a new train immediately.

Anomaly reports : creation of production anomalies, follow-up of solutions, information to customers.

Supervision of web applications developed by SysRailData for customers' needs : e-Mis, e-Tmis et e-VeryWay
Assistance to Socrate applications users (Système Offrant à la Clientèle Réservation d'Affaires et de Tourisme en Europe = System offering business and Leisure bookings in Europe) from SNCF, to Ticketless for Thalys and EDCS for Eurostar.

Connexion 7 days/7 with first level "Help Desk" of each network partners : COTA (Centre Opérationnel de Tests et d'Assistance = Tests and Assistance Operational centre) , SNCF, SABIN Help Desk for SNCB and ELGAR Help Desk for Eurostar UK Ltd.

Railteam : air alternative

Railteam is a collaboration between seven European leading high-speed rail operators SNCF (France), SNCB (Belgium), Deutsche Bahn (Germany), Eurostar UK LTD (UK), NS Hispeed (The Netherlands), ÖBB (Austria) and CFF (Switzerland) as well as their high-speed subsidiaries Thalys, Lyria and the DB/SNCF cooperation between France and Germany.

Railteam is designed to make the rail travelling experience for passengers as easy as possible ; the project aims therefore at implementing a homogeneous distribution system for high-speed trains to become a real alternative to other types of carriers.

	SysRailData Participation :
All our teams have been participating in the 2008 work group as part of Railteam.

Freight applications

Virtual train tickets

Voyageurs France Europe launched a paperless project called Dématérialisation ; this aims at offering a modern service to passengers : easy to purchase and run after-sales for customers, easy access on board without issuing any tickets.

Moreover this project is environment friendly.

	SysRaildata participation :
SysRailData brings its know-how in international distribution to the project. Teams actively participate in order to firstly launch Dématérialisation on the Paris-Strasburg route by January 2009.

Connexion TGV : high-speed Internet

A life-size test of internet and multimedia service has been proposed to TGV Est Européen passengers between 7th December 2007 and 30th May 2008. The only condition for them was to have a laptop provided with WIFI.

Therefore train passengers benefited from :

A high-speed internet surfing,
An access to a regularly updated embedded information portal,
Films and games dowload.

SysRailData participation :

Quality assurance team participated in the various steps of testing coordination as well as in the validation of all embedded portal versions.
SysRailData also was chosen to design a statistics web site of this new service ; it will enable TGV Management to get information on the number of connections, information about what web sites passengers have surfed on. The results will determine the future of the project.

An extension of the project to all TGV trains is therefore already expected by 2009.

eVeryWay pour Railteam

Le site internet de Railteam met à disposition des voyageurs, depuis janvier 2008, une carte interactive ; elle permet, en cliquant simplement sur l'origine et la destination de son choix, d'obtenir la fréquence et le meilleur temps de trajet, calculé par eVeryWay, pour les transporteurs adhérents à Railteam.

A shared running :

Alleo, equally owned by SNCF and Deutsche Bahn, is in charge of TGV and ICE trains connecting France to Germany : Paris-Stuttgart-Munich, Paris-Francfurt,
Direction Commerciale TGV marketing runs Paris-Luxemburg line,
Lyria runs Paris-Strasburg-Bâle-Zürich line.

	SysRailData participation :
The challenge of such a project was to come to an achievement in spite of various coexisting visions of rail world. Our team's work contributed to this achievement. They brought experience and expertise to rail operators in the marketing of their offers by putting our applications at their disposal.

High Speed One : 2007 Eurostar projects

Eurostar Group Limited launched High Speed 1 (HS1) project on November 2007, the opening of the first section of High speed railway line : this means faster journeys for customers as it now only takes 2.15 hours to go from Paris to London, 1.20 hours from Lille to London and 1.51 hours from Brussels to London.

HS1 means two other projects : Opening of new stations and renewal of boarding system :

Eurostar launches its services from Saint Pancras on the 14th November followed by Ebbsflleet International on 19th November,
Stratford International will open by 2012 as part of the olympic games.

SysRailData participation :

- Upstream activities : analysis and study of the transition towards a new solution,
- Transition time : double donwload of fares for Waterloo station and the new Saint Pancras station, testing on sales with previous stations and after-sales tests run with new stations,
- Simultaneous sell of the two fare ranges,
- Sell of the new fare range with the newly opened stations and guarantee of the setting up on production of the new fare ranges to come as well as the distribution of all Eurostar products.

Renewal of boarding system called EDCS used in all Eurostar stations in France, Belgium and Britain to control train passengers before they get on board. Its centralized design and homogeneous terminals offer a more reliable train ticket capture and check-in.

SysRailData participation :

- Quality assurance : Run of testing campaigns for EDCS,
- Functionnal, technical and hardware assistance brought to EDCS tool by SysRailData Single Point Of Contact (SPOC) and its back-up teams ; SPOC is the unique interlocutor to British French and Belgian distribution networks,
- Training to French and Belgian tool users in stations,
- Back-up role in 2008 EDCS generalization expected both in France and Belgium.
